Marcel is an artistic Houndoom who has interest in digital artwork and online stories. Attending the same art class as Albert and Teri, he likes drawing pictures and admires different forms of artwork. One day he wishes to create animated works and post them online to share and possibly make a living off of them. He often has problems sleeping at night because he tends to stay up late.

Marcel lives with a his parents and younger Houndour sister who is always curious about what he's doing, sometimes pesters him just like a typical sister. He is often open-minded and is friendly to many people. He usually carries around a laptop so he can draw his artwork in his spare time while talking with his friends. He is often fascinated by robots such as Jacen and Maye as well for their simple, yet unique designs. Marcel is also skilled at battling, often doing so when he's not drawing on his computer.

Houndooms have always ticked me off because of Team Flare in X and Y. GOD THEY WERE SO HARD TO TAKE DOWN. XD But excellent work! I love the backstory and all. XD I can imagine his sister constantly pestering him.

Thanks, glad you like him. I always put effort into my characters and their backstory, and it makes them feel more alive to me, since so many people don't even bother with a backstory for their characters..

I do! He seems to be really easy to relate to because he's a digital artist. XD I do too! You see how lengthy mine can get. XD Mine also have to be historically accurate or else it drives me nuts. I find it odd how people never add backstories sometimes.

I agree, I try and make my characters very believable even if they're not human, yet they're still much like human beings in many aspects. I agree that many people never add backstories, and it's usually because they never bother to even try writing one. A lot of the time, a character with no backstory is usually either a self-insert character for the owner (which a lot of my earliest characters were), a Mary Sue, or both, which I try to avoid. A short backstory (like a paragraph) is fine, just as long as the character is believable to other people, otherwise they end up being Mary Sues. Something I always do with my characters is expand their stories over time when I have more ideas for them, and I am always developing my characters even further.

I do too! Like, i literally try to make them as realistic as possible personality-wise. I also try to spice it up with some variety, but people tell me that they're very similar. I try to make them relate to various groups of people and everything. Yeah! Without a backstory characters are just as insignificant as the background characters in cartoons. Nobody knows a thing about them. Hm, well, I'm one who likes to start what I finish, so first, I'd develop a character in my head as much as I can until I am satisfied and then I start drawing them and creating their stories.

One might say my characters have similarities, but I try and make every single character different from the last, otherwise they just blend into the background and go unnoticed. I do the same with my character, usually planning a backstory for them before I post them.

People say that about mine too although I try to make them as varied as possible. That's the exact reason why I try to make them varied is so they don't just end up as background characters, so.

Same, and whenever I have a new idea for a character I always try and make it distinct from the others, even if I use the same species a second time.
